***** RARE VARIANT BINDING ***** THE MAN WHO SOLD THE MOON, Shasta, Date: 1950, first edition., fine in bright vg/vg+ dust-wrapper with some light wear and tear. The first book of the authors famed FUTURE HISTORY SERIES. This copy is bound with a black cloth spine as is the usual case, but with a tan front and rear panel in cloth as well (as opposed to paper boards). Also, the head and tail bands are striped red & yellow as opposed to black & white. With the release of the new Heinlein biography, Robert A. Heinlein, Volume 2: In Dialogue with His Century: 1948-1988: The Man Who Learned Better, it is apparent that Heinlein did not know of the existence of this issue. When mentioned to the publisher, Mel Korshak, he stated that he was unaware of it also! Only the second copy I've had in more than a dozen years in this format. The title story won the retro HUGO award for best novella of 1951. 1950. Shasta Publishers US
