Book is tight and square, despite size (9" x 12") and colors on front and rear are bright with little to no soiling. Some minor wear to corners and edges. Color map endpapers are bright too. Book is free of all markings or major flaws, other than aforementioned, and is close to near fine, but Very Good will suffice. Copyright page states 1936, title page 1940, First Edition, later printing. All color illustrations present, unmarked and bright. Lithographed on stone in five colors. Alas, w/o DJ but a fantastic, bright, affordable copy of this prize winning childrens' book. The authors were "the first artists in the country who ventured to return to the early craftsmen's method and make picture books by drawing the color illustrations directly on stone.
