Giarraputo was a gay Boston poet who went to Harvard with Frank O'Hara and Robin Blaser. Although he did not become a well-known poet he did teach poetry to the young black community which the mayor of Boston eventually proclaimed a day named in honor of Giarraputo. 1969.
