Random House, Date: 1969. Hardcover. Good. 9x6x1. This is one of the most RARE of the Landmark titles in this wonderful series. Hardback Pictorial Cover book is in Good to Good Minus condition. Book is complete with a tight binding and mostly clean pages but with some soiling and markings. This is an ex-library book with the expected library markings. Outside pictorial covers show some heavier wear to the outside covers, corners, edges, and spine. There is about a one inch piece missing from the top of the outside spine, but there is a clear strip of library tape over the outside spine. In 1910, less than seven years after the Wright brothers first flew a plane from the ground, Eugen Ely first flew a plane from a ship. His daring exploit marked the beginning of the most important change in the long history of sea power. In this book, Captain Castillo tells the story of carrier aviation- from the first shaky flights of the pioneers, through the dramatic carrier battles of World War II, to the efficient operations of a modern nuclear-powered carrier. Wonderful addition to your collection! 1969. Random House [US]
