Brown cloth-covered boards with red, black, and pink decorative stamping on front cover and along spine, with black lettering on front cover and gilt lettering on spine. Pink stamping of two figure's profiles on front cover. Some obvious rubbing to cloth along hinges and and back cover. Fore edge foxed. Binding is secure. Previous price penciled onto front free endpaper as well as black stamp that reads "F. R. Lacy". Black-and-white illustrative frontispiece of three figures titled "They Examined the Steel Band". No date on title page. Copyright page dated 1900. 209 pages. Interiors are clean and free from marks of any kind. About five black-and-white illustrations scattered throughout the book. "D. T. Henty" is a pen name owned by Edward Stratemeyer. Stratemeyer was a famous American publisher, and children's writer. He helped to produce prolific series such as "The Hardy Boys", "Nancy Drew", and "The Bobbsey Twins". John Wanamaker was the U.S. Postmaster General and created the first department store, "Wanamaker's", in Philadelphia in 1875. A good copy.
