It was discovered that most RCN files and thousands of RCN photo negatives had been systematically destroyed and only remnants were available from official sources. At this point, the only source of information remaining was with the pilots and maintainers who were involved with the Banshee. Over a four year period more and more Bansheeites were found and more than 300 were interviewed resulting in over 500 personal stories and the location of nearly 1,100 photographs, slides, cartoons and drawings. Most of these personal stories are included in the book and have been injected into the chronological backbone at appropriate locations. 450 photo items have also been included. The centrepiece of the book includes a gallery of Banshee artwork.” It should be noted that many of the stories and photos are focused on HMCS Bonaventure, Canada’s aircraft carrier, 1957 – 1970.
