Naval Inst Pr, Date: 1996-01-01. hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8x1x11. 1995 Naval Institute Press (Annapolis, Maryland), 8 1/4 x 10 7/8 inches tall blue cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to spine, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs and line drawings, 254 pp. Very slight soiling and rubbing to covers. Otherwise, a near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a like dust jacket which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. ~RR~ [3.0P] Until the break-up of the USSR, the development of Soviet aviation was kept secret, and it is only in recent years that authors have been able to gain access to so much previously unpublished material. In the early years, Tupolev followed Junker's methods and built a range of metal aeroplanes with corrugated sheet skins. Among these was a range of four-engined heavy bombers, the ANT-9 twin- and three-engined airliners, the very long-range single-engined ANT-25 which made non-stop flights from the USSR to the West coast of North American and the very large eight-engined 'Maxim Gorky.' The range of twin-engined SB wartime bombers were of Tupolev design. After the war, Tupolev produced the successful Tu-16 series twin-jet and the Tu-20 (Tu-95) four propeller-tur ...

E-050: Naval Institute Press. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. Date: 1996. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Hardcover. 4to. Naval Institute Press, Annapolis, MD. 1996. 254 pgs. Illustrated throughout. First Edition/First Printing. Putnam Aviation Series DJ has light shelf-wear present to the DJ extremities. Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The history of the design bureau through early days of favour through imprisonment and then reinstatement is well detailed. Then follows a detailed history of the design development and manufacture of each aircraft but little or no operational use and hard to find production numbers. Like the others in the series the level of detail is such that it overwhelms the narrative. So recommended because its an important historical account of an influential design house who made some very significant cold war as well as war time aircraft. E-050; Putnam Aeronautical Books; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 254 pages . 1996. Naval Institute Press ISBN 1557508828 9781557508829 [US]
