ISBN10: 022717299X, ISBN13: 9780227172995, [publisher: James Clarke & Co Ltd, Cambridge] Softcover Paperback. Professor C.O. Housman that the tradition of the greatest classical scholars returned to its native land and Professor Brink shows how it began again to make a contribution to the 'European fund'. An authoritative study of the development of English classical scholarship from the 16th century to the 20th, concentrating on the three giants in the field: Richard Bentley, Richard Porson, and A.E.
