This is probably one of the MOST VALUABLE set of books ever published on Arkansas Families. There are 7 volumes to the set, of which all have been reprinted by SHP, inc. with a NEW FULL NAME INDEX at one point in time. This book is broken into two main sections. The first is devoted to the history of the counties, while the second section contains biographical sketches of some 8000 individuals and genealogical data of some 3,200 other families/individuals for the following counties: Conway, Johnson, Logan, Montgomery, Polk, Pope, Scott, and Yell. The New Index that was prepared for this reprint edition contains the names of over 15,000 individuals. Many of these biographical sketches of these early pioneers date well back into the early to mid 1700's. In this volume, the History of Conway County, AR plus the Biographical Sketches of the county were included too. In the original 1891 edition Conway was left out but SHP, inc. with the help of some very knowledgeable librarians have located and included Goodspeeds left out county. A new index was completed for this section also. So please be aware that there are two indexes in this book to cover the original section plus the new section that covers Conway County, AR 2017.
