The third volume is the authors series on Tradesmen's Tickets and Private Tokens. The work discusses the unofficial currencies used during the reign of George III. Often confused with commercial currency these coins were used by tradesmen and members of the public, carrying to the promise of repayment or acting as advertisements for businesses. With an obvious passion for these token, R. C. Bell explores the significance of these small coins, their design and their purpose. Illustrated throughout with numerous examples of these tokens, and each with explanatory notes on their purpose and ownership. A lovely work which offers a unique history of the period of George III's reign. Condition: Hardback, held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Minor offsetting to the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns. Dustwrapper is smart. Light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. The wraps plastic coating in lifting slightly to the rear of the wrap. Small tear to the front of the wrap, to the head. Very light offsetting internal to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Overall Condition: Near Fine.
