James (1983) and has edited a selection of James's ghost stories for the Oxford World's Classics series. An authority on English supernatural fiction and Victorian detective fiction, he has co-edited (with R. A. Gilbert) The Oxford Book of English Ghost Stories as well as editing or co-editing a number of other Oxford fiction anthologies. His other publications are listed in 'books by the same author'.
