About this Item
In March 1868, in Sydney, young Prince Alfred, Australia's first royal visitor, was shot in the back by a demented Irishman, Henry James O'Farrell. The prince recovered but his would-be assassin was hanged. Then followed a political witch-hunt for 'disloyal' citizens involved in a supposed 'Fenian' plot. Seller Inventory # 9788
