Once known as the "Florence on the Elbe", Dresden was famed as one of Europe's most charming cities. In recent years it has undergone profound change. When the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche and its landmark dome is completed in 2005, Dresden's renowned cityscape - so familiar to us from Canaletto's paintings - will again be intact. However, not only historic buildings have been reconstructed in recent years: the city now also boasts some striking examples of contemporary architecture.
Dresden Today captures this process of change in informative texts and engrossing photographs that have mostly been taken using a mini-zeppelin alongside numerous rarely-published historical photographs illustrating the city's development.
