About the Author: David W. Macdonald is Founder and Director of Oxford University's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2008. His celebrated documentary Meerkats United was voted the best wildlife film of all time by BBC viewers.
