About the Author: A native of Wolyn, Tadeusz Piotrowski and his family lived under both the Soviet and the German occupations of Poland's eastern territories until August 1943. He is a professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester, where he received the Outstanding Associate Professor Award for 1996-1997. He is also the author of Poland's Holocaust (1998, $55) and Vengeance of the Swallows (1995, $29.95). Piotrowski won the 1998 Literary Award from the Polish Socio-Cultural Centre of the Polish Library in London and the 1995 Cultural Achievement Award from the American Council for Polish Culture.
