About the Author:
Antoni Pizą holds a Ph.D. in musicology from The Graduate Center of The City University of New York and has taught music history at Hofstra University (Long Island, N.Y.) and The City College (N.Y.). He is currently the Director of the Foundation for Iberian Music at the Barry S. Brook Center for Music Research and Documentation of The City University of New York. A musicologist specializing in Iberian and Latin American music as well as biographical studies and criticism, he has published extensively in many academic journals (Cahiers de musiques traditionnelles, Fontes Artis Musicae, Notes, Revista de musicologķa, The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Répertoire International d’Iconographie musicale, Music in Art, etc.). His music journalism has appeared in Ritmo, Diario de Mallorca, El Mirall, El Mundo-El Dķa, etc. Besides his doctoral dissertation, “The Tradition of Autobiography in Music” (1994), he is also the author of five books: El mśsic Joan Aulķ (1996), Francesc Guerau i el seu temps (2000), Bravo Joan Pons: L’univers del barķton a Nova York (2002), and Antoni Literes: Introducció a la seva obra (2002), El doble silenci: Reflexions sobre mśsica i mśsics (2003).
