Buckle, illustrated throughout and with a folding map. An English language translation of French travel writer, and photographer Louis Rousselet's account of his travels in India.Illustrated with a folding map to the start of the work, a frontispiece, and numerous vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.In 1875 Rousselet first published his journal, compiled of his notes, drawings and photographs written during his stay in India, under the title 'L'Inde des Rajahs: Voyage Dans l'Inde Centrale'. It achieved great success, and resulted in many further editions and foreign translations.Pencil former owner's inscription to half title.In the decorative publisher's cloth. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light fraying to cloth in these regions. Fading to back strip. Boards bright. Paper to front pastedowns renewed, but retaining the original front free endpaper. Final gathering detached and loosely inserted, otherwise firmly bound. Inscription to half title. Pages bright, with the odd spot and handling mark throughout. Very Good
