US: University Of Chicago Press, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good -. Signed and inscribed at first free endpaper by Ida B. Wells' granddaughter Jackie who is the daughter of the editor Alfreda M. Duster. Beautiful bright orange cloth over boards with gilt particulars, publisher's emblem and decorative band to spine. Top corner creased from previously being folded at page xxiii and light soiling to fore edge of second page of photographs; otherwise, pages are clean and unmarked. Text block is lightly soiled with light shelf wear to top edge. Boards are clean and bright with bumping and rubbing to corners and ends of spine Binding cracked at page 256, but still holds; otherwise, binding is tight and square. Dust jacket has light scuffing to covers with creasing, rubbing, chipping and closed tears to edges, corners and ends of spine. Sunning to spine with light soiling and crease down the center. Dust jacket is covered in a protective mylar jacket.
