Leipzig: Heinrich Schmidt & Carl Günther, 1880. The scarce First Editions published 1880-81(later reprinted in 1890-91). Elegantly bound in contemporary dark brown full morocco by Ig. Kohler with binders name in gilt at base of spines. Large folio volumes elaborately decorated in gilt with five raised spine bands. Gilt edges and inner dentelles, all text edges bright gold gilt. Marbled endpapers in deep red, white, blue and salmon color. Illustrated with nearly 300 figures, plans, maps, and engravings including many full-page. Plus a colored folding map of India at rear of second volume. Very good copies, firmly bound, with no name, bookplate or other markings. Additional photos available on request. [large and heavy volumes, shipping weight approximately 25 pounds so will require extra postage]. First Edition. Full-Leather. Very Good. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
