Fine but with some foxing about the edges of the text block; in bright, crisp dust jacket. Hardcover. 335 pp. with index. Illustrated with photographs. Biography of impresario Florenz Ziegfeld (1867-1932), the "man who glorfied the American girl" with his famed "Ziegfeld Follies" Broadway revues that ran from 1907 through 1931. He started in theater when it was flea circus, sideshow, and operetta but by the time he was through it was "show business". His first big star attraction was the strongman Sandow and he presented naughty French sensation Anna Held (who became his first wife). Over the years he showcased stars like Billie Burke (who also became his wife), Will Rogers, W.C. Fields, and Fanny Brice.
