Aristid von Grosse was the first to isolate the radioactive protoactinium in the laboratory of Otto Hahn, the discoverer of nuclear fission. Clarence E. Larson handled the unprecedented chemistry of Ernest Lawrence's electromagnetic process for separating U-235 from U-238 at Oak Ridge. Dr. Snell, Dr. Arnold and Mr. Bahler worked with Dr. Larson at Oak Ridge.
