ISBN10: 0224016482, ISBN13: 9780224016483, [publisher: Jonathan Cape Ltd., London] Hardcover First Edition Blitzkrieg turns a searchlight on the rise of Hitler and the lightning war on the ground but for which the Battle of Britain would not have been fought. This is a fine copy of the first edition of Len Deighton's classic study. The black cloth-bound boards are unmarked and there are no scratches or bumps; all edges straight, all corners sharp. The gilt lettering on the spine panel is as bright as new. The text block is square and tightly bound and the edges are spotless; the pink stain to the top edge has faded a little but is still clearly present. Internally all of the pages (including the endpaper analyses of a typical Panzer division's constituents) are clean with no inscriptions or any other signs of previous ownership. The dust jacket retains its original gloss and crispness; there are no tears, chips, excisions or unwanted creases; the publisher's price (£5.95) is still in place. The red capitalized 'BLITZKRIEG' on the front and back panels is bright and strong though its appearance on the spine has lost a little of its vigour. Please see five photos of this book and you would of course be welcome to ask for more if that would help. [Reading, BERKS, United Kingdom] [Publication Year: ...

ISBN10: 0224016482, ISBN13: 9780224016483, [publisher: Jonathan Cape, London] Hardcover This sequal to his Battle of Britain classic "Fighter" is equal;ly impressive in its concept, research, presentation and accounting of the German offensive of May 1940 which saw France, Holland, and Belgium come under the Nazi yoke. It is a consumate reconstruction of that Blitzkrieg, which culminated in the astonisjing evacuation at Dunkirk. The author reviews the revival of the German war machine following WWI, military operations before and from September 1939, the campaign that led to France's defeat, the German successes and where its strategy was long-term less so. A great companion volume for "Fighter." 319 pages including acknowledgements, sources/bibliography, index, 59 b/w photos, 23 figures including drawings, diagrams tables, 20 maps, e/papers chart of a typical panzer division of 1940. It was applauded by the historian A.J. P.
