Text is clear, readable; vintage photos are clean, vivid. This well-written book follows the chronology of Japan's invasion of China, and examines the war in China. According to the author, the war began in China, not Pearl Harbor. Here is intelligent insights into battles such as the six-month struggle for Guadalcanal, Return to Guam, Iwo Jima, the epic Leyte Gulf battle, Truk, and Rabaul. There are 16 chapters describing major personalities of the war, which helps the reader understand why certain events happened the way they did. Overall, the author unfolds to the reader the history-making events of World War II in the Pacific.
