London: John Lane The Bodley Head, Date: 1944 First edition and printing. 'War Economy Standard' printing. Holden describes the lives of conscripted workers at Statedale, an enormous rural munitions factory. She worked in an aircraft factory in North London and an ordnance factory in Wales, so she was writing from firsthand experience. In good pale blue cloth boards, black titles to back strip. The covers are straight, quite tight, with sunned spine strip and surrounding area on back cover; tail cut edges a little bumped; small, slight crease from front tail end. Clean end papers. Age-toned cut edges. The text block is in very good condition, unmarked, square and tightly bound. No inscriptions etc. Scarce. 1944. John Lane The Bodley Head [GB]
