Not included in this account are NZers who flew with the RAF or the RAAF. The major section of the book,"The Claims", present a summary of the situation prior to Japan's entry into WWII in Decdember 1941. Following the Singapore combats the major campaigns of the South Pacific are covered --- Guadalcanal to Fefruary 1943, New Georgia February to August 1943, Bougainville to December 1943 and Rabaul attacks to February 1944. Subsequent to that date RNZAF combat aircraft continued to operate, mainly in ground attack role and no further claims were made. The second major section, "Biographies" , in alphabetical order records all aircrew credited with aircatf destroyed or probably destroyed (Part A) and a shorter Par B is for aircrew claiming to have damaged an enemy aircraft in combat. Six appendices complete the texr sectiion with the final appendix "The elusive 100th" dealing with the RNZAF's total of 99 Japanes aircraft destroyed , with the author contending that one claim not recognised denied the 100th victory ...
