ISBN10: 073851229X, ISBN13: 9780738512297, [publisher: Arcadia Publishing, Charleston, South Carolina] Softcover First Edition First Edition ( 'First printed in 2003'). From the Images of America series. Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page ( 'To _______ and ________, With best wishes, Thomas H. Keels'). As you can see from the photos, the covers are exceptionally clean and free of any conspicuous wear. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The pages look terrific, exceptionally clean, bright. I don't see any creasing. No markings. No attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There is one tiny imperfection. On the Contents page the 'd' and 's' in 'The Woodlands' (which is the title of the third chapter) have been a little rubbed away, mostly the 's'. I'm guessing there was something penciled there that was erased and it removed just a bit of the print. It's quite minor and I've provided a photo. There are a great many photographs throughout the book, several on most of the pages. They are all in excellent condition. ISBN10: 073851229X, ISBN13: 9780738512297, [publisher: Arcadia Publishing (SC)] Softcover Paperback. Philadelphia, the birthplace of America, is the final resting place of some of the nation's greatest citizens. The burial grounds of Christ Church hold the remains of Benjamin Franklin and six other signers of the Declaration of Independence. Philadelphia pioneered the development of the rural cemetery with the establishment of Laurel Hill, eternal home to Gettysburg hero George Gordon Meade and thirty-nine other Civil War-era generals. In Philadelphia's Jewish, Catholic, and African American burial grounds rest such notable figures as Rebecca Gratz, model for the Jewish heroine of Walter Scott's Ivanhoe; John Barry, Catholic father of the U.S. Navy; and Octavius Catto, an African American civil-rights leader of the nineteenth century. Finally, there are the vanished cemeteries, such as Monument, Lafayette, and Franklin. Transformed into playgrounds and parking lots, these cemeteries were obliterated with sometimes horrific callousness. Philadelphia Graveyards and Cemeteries tells the intriguing history of these burial grounds, whether revered or long forgotten. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability. [Stevenage, United Kingdom] [Publication Year: 2003] ...
