The book was originally published in 1991 as "The Seeds of Time  the Life of Sir MacFarlane Burnet", and reissued in a new edition. This book was reissued to coincide with the Centenary of his birth and tells of his pioneering discoveries in virology and immunology, and of his highly original theorising on the body's immune system which led to his Nobel Prize for medicine.
