Australian Dictionary of Biography (A.D.B.) published its first volume 1n 1966 and its twelfth in 1990. Volumes 1 and 2 deal with people prominent between 1788 and 1850, Volumes 3 to 6 with persons who flourished in the period 1851-1890, and Volumes 7 to 12 with those whose careers reached a peak in the years1891 to 1939. In total, the twelve volumes run to 7,104 pages of text with two columns per page. This index contains references to to the names of 10,442 individuals, including the 7,211 major entries in the A.D.B., as well as every minor (small-capped) entry and many lesser ones. Included in this volume is a consolidated corrigenda which incorporates every correction the A,D.B. published between 1967 and 1990, together with some previously unpublished.
