This copy has been inscribed by the biographer dated 2010 and is scarce in this state. The 'Colin' of the inscription is unknown but the author has added a comment to him that ; "your work began my thinking on the film ;The Mortal Storm'". This was a novel of Bottome's that was adapted into a film with James Stewart in 1940. Bottome studied individual psychology under Alfred Adler while in Vienna. She was married to an MI6 Head of Station. She established a school in Vienna to study how psychology and educational theory could cure the ills of nations. One of her more famous pupils was Ian Fleming. In 1960, he wrote to Bottome, "My life with you both is one of my most cherished memories. It has been posited that Fleming took the idea of James Bond from the character Mark Chalmers in Bottome's spy novel 'The Lifeline'. She was an active anti-fascist and she lived in Nazi Germany.
