First Edition UK [1960], unstated, in accordance with Burns & Oates' customary, but not universal practice. No subsequent printings noted. EX-LIBRARY, showing minimal distinguishing marks: a small rubber-stamped rectangle with some library stack & shelf notations at the lower corner of the front free endpaper; the top half-inch of the front free endpaper has been clipped most of the way across the page (no other indications of its library status). Very Good- in Very Good DJ: The book shows some shelving wear to the lower extremities; mild crimp to the heel of the backstrip; a bit of tanning to the top edge of the text block; the binding leans a little, but remains secure; the text is clean. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. A moderately used copy showing a little wear and minor, unobtrusive cosmetic flaws: clean, sturdy, presentable. The DJ shows light wear to the extremities; some sunning to the purple background field of the backstrip and around the upper outside edges of the front panel; mild overall rubbing; some tape shadow where the DJ had been attached to a mylar cover; unclipped. Shows mild wear and minor cosmetic flaws, but remains clean and intact. NOT a Remainder or Book-Club. 8vo. (8.75 x 5.75 x 1.15 inches). viii, 296 pages. Translated from the French by Dom Wulstan Hibberd. Language: English. Black cloth over boards with gilt titles at the backstrip. Weight: 18.2 ounces. Hardback: Lacks DJ.
