Die Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs wird aufgrund ihres im Parteienvergleich überdurchschnittlich hohen Männeranteils unter FunktionärInnen und WählerInnen häufig als ,Männerpartei' klassifiziert. Um der besonderen Attraktivität der FPÖ für Männer auf die Spur zu kommen, rekonstruiert die explorativ angelegte Studie freiheitliche Männlichkeitsdiskurse, sowohl in Parteimedien als auch anhand von Gruppendiskussionen mit Parteifunktionären. In theoretischer Hinsicht schließt sie damit die Lücke zur bereits fortgeschrittenen Diskussion über Frauen in der FPÖ. Da der insgesamt nur unzureichende Forschungsstand zur Vergeschlechtlichung des Rechtsextremismus maßgeblich auf die erschwerten Bedingungen einer qualitativen Forschung in ,umkämpften Feldern' zurückzuführen sein dürfte, widmet sich das Buch zudem auch der Frage, unter welchen forschungspraktischen wie forschungsethischen Bedingungen rechtsextreme Organisationen mit reaktiven Methoden untersucht werden können.
