The Skoda heavy industrial and armaments complex was founded in 1859; and the Laurin & Klement company began to make bicycles in 1895, then motorcycles, expanding into motor car manufacture in 1905. Laurin & Klement automobiles were famous for their build quality and excellent design, winning many international sporting events.
