Beautiful brown calf binding with red leather spine label, gilt lettering and ornate gilt decorations embossed on spine and front board, text block edged and endpapers decorated with attractive marbling in a feather pattern, etched frontispiece and four additional etched plates featuring portraits of British generals and nobles. Rare! A beautiful and remarkably preserved book! Minor shelf wear, former owner library plate and inscription from 1863, page 18 has small creases at corner. Text block clean, tight and appears gently read. Very good.
