With such a cast assembled it is perhaps no surprise that the outcome of this seminar and field visit would prove to be so influential. Although, as Hoskins would later recollect of the event itself, 'Postan's brilliant driving at times might have ended the subject for ever by extinguishing all the scholars interested in the subject.
