New York, New York, U.S.A.: PublicAffairs, Date: 2006. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. As New/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. In June 1972, FBI agents responded to reports of a puzzling break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington's Watergate complex. Within days, the FBI linked the intruders to the Nixon White House, and the case exploded into a constitutional showdown over presidential power. The Washington Post led the way in Watergate coverage, and one man, the secret source known as Deep Throat, guided the Post's investigation, staging clandestine meetings with reporter Bob Woodward in a Virginia parking garage. In early 2005, after nearly 33 years of secrecy, William Mark Felt, the retired associate director of the FBI, finally revealed that he was "the guy they used to call Deep Throat." Here he explains why he chose to risk so much to protect his country from a criminal presidency. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. 319 pp, with Index.
