ISBN10: 1849083649, ISBN13: 9781849083645, [publisher: Osprey Publishing, Great Britain] Hardcover Colonel Nick Lipscombe makes a comprehensive, non-partisan examination of the conflict through 161 original maps, accompanied by an authoritative text narrating the war. This book is in excellent condition. The pages and page edges are clean, the binding is sound and the cover is in near new condition. There is cloth around the spine, which does show some very minor fading. Contains a lovely ribbon bookmark and colour maps. The book has been stored in a case, which has maintained it's excellent condition. The case contains a thick ribbon for ease of removing the book from the case. The case is brown cloth and is in mostly good condition apart from some spotted fading. Some of the edges of the cloth are lifting very slightly from the case. There is the remnants of a bar-code sticker on one edge. Despite the minor imperfections of the case listed above, it is in good working order.

ISBN10: 1849083649, ISBN13: 9781849083645, [publisher: Osprey Publishing] Hardcover First Edition First edition. Includes publisher slipcase with ribbon attached. Minor general wear. 2010 Large Hardcover. 384 pp. Colonel Nick Lipscombe, who is based in Spain and is the chairman of the Peninsular War 200 organization, has used his unique perspective to make this new edition the very best study of the subject on the market. The Peninsular War saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the Napoleonic Wars. Over a period of five years it is estimated that half a million soldiers and civilians were killed in this bloodbath, however the battles there are far less well-known than other Napoleonic battles like Waterloo. Despite the exposure given this theatre in the Sharpe novels, the soldiers who fought there have received little public recognition.

At the end of the war, Murray proposed to the Duke of Wellington a programme of retrospective mapping of the battlefields to illustrate the operations of the British forces... Colonel Lipscombe's work has, at last, concluded (and indeed enhanced) what Colonel Murray set out to achieve nearly tow hundred years ago. This atlas is comprehensive; it covers not just the battles and conflicts of the British and Anglo-Portuguese armies but also of all the major engagements that the Spanish and Portuguese armies fought against the French."
