Urbana: University of Illinois Press and The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, Date: 2004. Hardcover. Blue cloth with silver spine lettering. xii, 223pp. Maps, tables. Fine. Possibly, presumably (but unverifiably) published with dust jacket and here lacking. Handsome, bright and tight first edition of this essay collection featuring nine contributors, heavily but not entirely business focused. Richard C. Longworth, Chicago journalist and globalization authority who served as executive director of the Global Chicago Center of the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, contributes the essay "The Political City" and boldly inscribes and signs the half-title page in blue fineline: "To Adlai -- / With gratitude & admiration / for all you've done for / Chicago over the years. / You are an indispensable / citizen. / Dick Longworth / 11.3.04." Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021) served as U. S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81), son of the governor who twice ran for president and was himself a gubernatorial candidate. A most unusual copy. 2004. University of Illinois Press and The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations ISBN 0252029410 9780252029417 [US]
