Donald Mitchell has signed this on the title page, and the signature was obtained at the start of the wonderful exhibition at Sussex University on Britten in 1981. The writer has inscribed it to 'To Peter Kettle with good wishes, Donald Mitchell' in blue fountain pen ink. A lithographed portrait of Ben Britten is loosely laid in. This was produced for the exhibition. It is signed by the artist. There is also a neat blind stamp on the half title. First printing of the T. S.
